1.海内存知己，天涯若比邻。
although we reside in far corners of the world, having a good friend is akin to having a good neighbor.
2.大道之行也，天下为公。
when the great way is followed, all under heaven will be equal.
3.前事不忘，后事之师。
consider the past, and you shall know the future.
4.天之道，利而不害；圣人之道，为而不争。
the way of heaven is to benefit others and not to injure. the way of the sage is to act but not compete.

8.山径之蹊间，介然用之而成路；为间不用，则茅塞之矣。
a trail through the mountains, if used, becomes a path in a short time, but, if unused, becomes blocked by grass in an equally short time.
